I am looking a data warehouse solution for storing large number of XML documents. We have tons of XML documents currently stored in a file system with different directories and sub-directories. As you can imagine things are getting messy easily. So we are thinking of using a database to store the XML files.
Here are some of the desirable features of this XML data warehouse that we are looking for:
- Schema free. As many of our XML documents were created without following a strict schema specification, requiring xsd would not be feasible.
- Easy accessible. We need to frequently retrieve information from the XML data warehouse. It is desirable to be able to retrieve partial document, say a small group of elements, without the need of opening a whole document.
- Open source database engine such as mySql or Firebird.
